Violet: planting and care

The violet can be planted in the ground after the leaves have germinated in a glass of water. If there is a desire to plant a leaf immediately in a pot, it is necessary to protect it from unwanted changes by covering the plant with polyethylene. Having planted a leaf directly in the ground, there is a possibility of a long appearance of the first roots.

The ground for violets should be moist and, importantly, loose. So it will be saturated with oxygen, which will help the flower germinate faster. Noticing the good-quality roots of the leaf, you can safely take on planting it in a pot. Pour expanded clay, or any other means for creating drainage, sprinkle it with earth on top and strengthen the leaf in the center.

Holding the future flower with your hand, sprinkle the second with more soil. When the leaf is firmly installed, tamp the ground with light patting movements. From time to time, after several waterings, it will settle. It's time to level the soil by adding earth to the pot. For better growth of the violet, it is necessary to transplant it every year into a new land, but in the same pot. The success of the successful growth of the violet is a good fertilized soil mixture.

An important aspect of the soil is its acidity. It is thanks to her that the roots get enough nutrients. The acidity level should fluctuate between 6.5 - 7pH. A mixture of leafy humus, sand, turf and moss will allow the flower to grow in a comfortable environment.

You can buy soil for violets in the store, but you can form it yourself. A prerequisite is fertilizing the earth with micronutrient fertilizers. Thanks to nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, the vegetative mass grows rapidly. The health of the bush is impossible without a strong root system.

Caring for an indoor flower includes the correct selection of soil, feeding and respect for the requirements of a tropical plant. Violet is very fond of moisture, however, does not tolerate direct watering and spraying. Dropped leaves retain water droplets and rot quickly. Humidity must be created artificially.

Leaving the flower on the windowsill, where direct sunlight falls, is not recommended. The delicate leaves of the flower quickly burn, getting burns, curl up and fall off. It is unacceptable. The violet is poured with water of at least 20 degrees, the flower does not like cold water.

Violet: variety of species

Currently, there are a lot of types of violets. Common species are quite known to lovers of indoor indoor plants, others are known only to experienced gardeners, and some are even included in the Red Book.

  1. Violet Wittrock (garden pansies) - widely known to flora lovers.
  2. Violet tricolor (another "home" pansies) - can be seen on the windowsills of city houses.
  3. Fragrant violet - is quite rare.
  4. Violet hooked-curved - widespread in North America.
  5. Horned violet - grows on the slopes of the Pyrenees.

It becomes clear that violets of various kinds are scattered all over the world. And there is, perhaps, not a single country that does not know about the existence of such a flower. Nearly 20 known species of violets are very similar to each other and show the true beauty of the flora world. Fragrant violets with flowers of various colors are a favorite plant of gardeners.

Violet: common diseases

Caring for such a flower involves curing flower ailments inherent in the Violet genus.

  1. Thrips. The larvae, like the matured adult insects of thrips, have a detrimental effect on the plant. They live on violets, jump from flower to flower and open their anthers. The flower begins to fade. Thrips reproduce quickly, giving up to 6 generations per year. Hiding under the underside of the leaf, they gradually kill the plant. The larvae feed on flowers, therefore it is necessary to pick them off within 1 - 2 months.
  2. Aphid. Insects eat the violet leaf. They multiply quickly, but move slowly. To destroy aphids, it is enough to rinse the violet leaves under running water or treat them with insecticides. For an accurate result, the procedure should be repeated after a week.
  3. Mealybug. Destroys a violet from the ground. One of such pests, from which it is better to refuse to fight. It is easier to grow a plant again from a taken leaf than to struggle with the problem for a long time and persistently. The worm, covered with a fluffy cover, is immune to poisons. The ability to reduce the population exists as long as the pest is still a larva.
  4. Mite. The signs of a tick are red spots on the leaves. The danger of a tick is that it can move to other plants. To prevent this from happening, measures should be taken: treat the leaves of the plant with acaricide several times. Repeat the treatment after a week. Some drugs are dangerous to humans, so you should be as careful as possible.
  5. Powdery mildew. The fungus is in the form of a white bloom, affecting leaves, flowers and peduncles. Outwardly, the manifestation looks like flour. With the help of fungicides, you can get rid of the violet disease. The reasons are poor lighting, high humidity at low temperatures, excess nitrogen, etc.

In addition to pests and fungal diseases, a violet can feel bad if irrigated with improper watering, violation of climatic conditions and temperature conditions, in poor lighting due to short daylight hours, with oversaturation with fertilizers. Caring for a flower should be approached consciously, having studied all the necessary information. Then your flower will look great.
